Leggy
Hey Guys and Gals, As above, where do you all get your meat from? I've been to butchers, meat vans and supermarkets mostly. But more recently I'm looking at ordering from Online. With this quarantine in place for the foreseeable and fortunately I'm still get paid, thinking of splashing out a bit. Found a site (https://www.hooknblock.co.uk/) looks like they do more of the larger cuts and some other interesting things. Sorry if this had been posted in the wrong place or asked before. Cheers, Adam.
Smokin Monkey
There are some good online meat suppliers, Bobs Family Butchers JL Butchers – Turner and George Sherwood Bookers Cash & Carry are good for Meaty Ribs, Belly Pork etc. You can get some good meats from Supermarkets like Morrison’s for Flank/Bavette Steak, Ham Hocks and Ox Cheek. You will fed most folk are only cooking for 2 or a maximum of 4 people, so great slabs of meat are a waste. Thats why when we have our BBQ/Tailgate weekends, everyone brings half a Cow, because it’s the only time they get to cook a slab of meat! 2

Comes well packaged and freezer packs round the meat. Delivered by DPD who are one of the more reliable couriers as well I find. Don't know where you are in the West Mids, but if close to Junction 9 of the M42 J.J. Timmins is a handy butchers, situated at the back of the farm shop is a restaurant/contract butcher normally, but sells to the public. Popped in there the weekend only one in there, as not really widely known as a public retail unit, ring first to let them know what you want too see if they have it in stock, picked up a full Pork belly and a couple of kgs of chicken wings. But have had loin, ribs (pork and beef) steak and other cuts from there in the past and all been good quality. That is one of the good things about coming to one of the smoking weekends - we can cook that slab of meat that we have always dreamed of cooking without having our other halves standing behind us and tutting as we buy it. . "It has to be enough for 30 dear" you say as you justify handing over the money. Little does he/she know that everyone will be saying the same and there will still be a lot brought home for the freezer. At least you will be able to take home a selection from a lot of different smokes... 2

Hopefully I get the opportunity to come to one of the weekends as well. Cheers, Adam.

David
As others, I use Gridiron who are linked with Taste Tradition and have been using for a few years now. - If you join their stakeholders group you get notified of rare breed roasts etc. They are based in Ripon area. Another in the Ripon area that I use is Farmison. With both I have never had any issues with quality, delivery slots or temperature at point of delivery and I have bought charcuterie, whole briskets, baby backs etc of them. Hope that helps D.

Thanks, it's always nice to have a few options and when people go back again and again to suppliers, I believe that says a lot! Will try and use a few different suppliers. Cheers, Adam. AvfcJosh
I use either Turner and George, a bit expensive but worth it or John Davidson butchers in Scotland, they have a dedicated brisket section on there from all over the world
CrackWilliams
I've been using Tom Hixson and been very happy with the quality of his meat and the various cuts, he also has some very good deals on. If you sign up there's a ten quid discount on your first order and free delivery over £100. He recently had some 2kg Argentine Ribeye (2.5kg was delivered) down to £50 from £100 - it was excellent.

Nige
That looks amazing David! I've been struggling to get a brisket like that locally! Talking of local I recently found a butchers called Hazel's in Norwich and got the meatiest ribs I've purchased yet! He also told me he can do briskets like above, but I've had butchers tell me that previously and I've been let down so watch this space on that one.. Attached a pic of the ribs.
Adi dassler
Had this brisket from gridiron meats,I've never used them but came a day earlier than anticipated and was great quality. Also had a middle of pork for back and streaky bacon and I'm extremely impressed. Would be interested to know what his ribs are like if anybody has had them

Have also had a few butts from them, I ask them to remove the rind and ribs but leave the scapula in. They sometimes do good offers on the ribs. Here’s an example of some I have had from them.

They look great. Checked online and gridiron were out of stock on the ribs but I came across a company called the Wiltshire bacon company who are doing 5kg of baby back ribs for £20 + £6 (I think p+p). Which I think sounds a good price,I've been paying around £7 for a 900g rack. Dont know if anybody has used them before but they should be here on Thursday so I'll let you know what they are like
