Icefever
I tried growing mushrooms about 40 years back....needless to say nothing came of it. The other week I bought a mushroom kit, it's been going for about 6/7 days, white threads appeared across the top very quickly, the mycelium was working. Checked today and we have mushrooms, well two anyway so far. Ice.

Icefever
So far so good..started off on the 21th with the mycelium showing well....we've had our first few the other morning in a bacon & egg sarnie. Over the last couple of days it has gone wild....to the point we will be using them by the end of this week. I'm going to try the bucket of straw method next and try to spawn from these mushrooms. It's so easy Steve...open the box, take the bag of spawn, open and spread across the substrate, open a small bag of compost and cover and a light spray of water, cover and let be. Ice. Icefever
Well, I've just had my first flush of mushrooms this morning, they are going to be the main ingredient of my bacon & mushroom risotto for this evenings meal. I'm going to try a bucket of straw and do my own substrate next time. Spoon is there to size the m/rooms. I had to take these off to make room for all the rest that are growing. . Zoomed in here just to show the amount of m/rooms coming up. 250 grms spot on.........can't wait to get cooking. We had a couple over the weekend and the taste is out of this world.. Icefever
Update....Start of the 2nd flush, 62 grms so far with loads of small mushrooms (pins) to follow by Wed/Thurs..... these will go into the next risoto. I'm also going to try and start my own spawn off of white paper so that I can try on a straw substrate. Ice.

davew
now that is impressive, why not BBQ a handful, literally just put them upside down on the grill and cook, if you want later cook on side Your be surprised, don't over cook thou, maybe like you would fry them or bit less
