  9. I've spent most of this morning cutting, drilling and fixing. I've taken out the crap thermo in the lid and made a cover to fit, we now have a top vent if needed. Below is my thermo grommet for the 4 probes, no need to have the cables over the top edge and under the lid. It's just a strip of alloy with a strip of silicone baking tray behind. Eash hole has a X cut to allow the probes to pass and hopefully seal around them enough to stop a lot of smoke. Last two are of the fire gaskets around the door & Lid....you can see the gap on photo 1 around the lid, the rope I have was too thick so I've used the flat type and added 2 lots to try and lessen the gap.
  10. That's what I thought....but it's good to know about this at the start, less chance to cock it up on the day... ?
  11. Wow thanks, guys, is there a way of working out the time getting near the stall???, from the weight of your joint & the temp you have set the BBQ/Smoker at?? I suppose it's all down to knowing how much water is in the meat....which would be nigh on impossible.
  12. I've sent for the 4 probe one this morning....will be here tomorrow.

  14. Since entering this realm of BBQ'ing I'm reading articles & watching videos. Every now & then I come across "The Stall". What's it all about?...so I set off in a search along with uncle Gargle and came up with the following. After a 2nd read, I'm sure I understand it ?.. is the info correct ?? https://genuineideas.com/ArticlesIndex/stallbbq.html Ice.
  15. "What can't speak can't lie" as the saying goes, and those photos prove it. In fact the 2nd photo, the lid thermo shows just over 120c, while the Inkbird shows 97c...big big difference there. Ice.
  16. There sure is a lot to learn with this BBQ'ing ?
  17. I read a post by (I think) Wade where he did a test on water and sand and came to the conclusion there was little to choose between the two. Ice.
