    'Lo!

NIce, are you looking to add to them? Have you tried smoking on the gasser? @Dutchy Loves his Dutch Ovens. Has some great wee videos about them too.
  2. Welcome from just outside Glasgow I started with a Bullet smoker (57cm/22" WSM) and got a Mini Kamado a couple years ago. I've never done a Brisket but have one on the way for the 21st April. I always think a Bullet is a great starter as its easy for set it and forget it. An offset needs more fire management plus has a bigger footprint. With the Dreich weather we get I built a wee shack to keep my WSM in so I can use it all year. Though a Kettle is a great place to start due to the variety of use you can get from it.

    'Lo!

Welcome, What kit do you have or are you looking to get started?
  4. Welcome, I know how you feel my gf is always fed up of the bbq talk but she's always happy to get the fruits of my labour. Do you know what kinda bbq you are after or whats your budget?
  5. I ordered on the 21st. Got email from XDP on 26th saying they would deliver on behalf of Aldi but they hadn't received it yet. (Fine it was pre order and didn't officially go on sale until 25th) Email from Aldi on 29th saying they had dispatched it from their warehouse and would take 2-7 days. Had a tracking link for XDP. Since then 11 days have passed including 7 working days and no word. Tracking is still showing as not received by XDP. I called Aldi this morning and waited an hour to speak to someone. He advised he's emailed XDP for me and will fwd their reply. If they don't deliver in the next few days he advised me to call back. It's frustrating as I can see someone near me has already had their delivered and instead of using it is bloody selling it online for £450😠
  6. Sold out? wow. There was 11 in stock when I looked earlier. It looked a nice idea but a little small for me. I usually get a xl chicken and thought it looked more a smaller bird that would fit. might be worth a punt if they come back in stock.

    Mini Kamado

@Carlos I'm not sure if you already have got your wee Kamado yet. I got mine from Lidl a couple years ago but it looks like Aldi are also doing one this spring. No idea on price/date but looks exactly like the Landmann/Grill chef one. so I'd imagine under £100 depending on accessories.
  8. Hi I think the Aldi ones are going on sale again in May. It depends on your budget. Costco have a Louisiana Grills Kamado that is out of stock but might possibly come in as the summer draws closer. Lidl normally sell a smaller Kamado for about £80. I bought it a couple years ago and use it regularly. Does it have to be a Kamado? Could you settle for a Kettle or Bullet smoker the now? You may pick up a Kamado 2nd hand towards the end of BBQ season.
  9. What about the 5 gallon buckets? you can get them for Food or for Car Wash
  10. I'd agree with the above. I started with a Bullet (57cm/22" WSM). For me I'd looked at offset etc and i preferred the set it and forget it ability of the Bullet. An offset looked fun but I didn't want to babysit the fire. A kettle is a great alternative as they are versatile. Can do low and slow or a quick grill and sear. Though you can do the same in a Bullet just with a few more adjustments. How many people are you cooking for? What type of cooks? Do you want to source wood or happy with charcoal?
  11. I'd say go for a kettle. Can get a weber 18"/47cm one for around £200. That way you can direct or go low and slow indirect. If you can stretch I'd recommend a bullet smoker I have the 57cm/22" WSM and its a beast. I can remove the mid section and cook more direct but it is a bit awkward. Many on here use they ProQ smokers as they are more versatile for that style of cooking. You could look at a Pit Barrell also. It depends on the style of cooking you want to do. Direct Grilling (more hands on/quicker) or Low and Slow (Hands off time for family/longer cook time)
  12. I have a bag of the KJ big block. Got the Aldi Kamado on the way too so will give it a bash in there. I've used tesco Lumpwood in the past on the Mini Kamado from Lidl. It's meh, does the job but better with a quality Lumpwood like Icefever says.
  13. If you haven't got one already I'd recommend an instant read Thermometer and a BBQ one too. It'll take the pressure off.
  14. I built this to last a year but has lasted almost 4 years. Hopefully getting my garden done this year if I can book a landscaper. I'd recommend a wee shelter it does make a difference especially for me Just outside Glasgow. I'd make changes if I was building this again.
  15. MRW I see your fuel choice. Also welcome. What's your first cook? Lots say chicken but I think pork shoulder is a great first choice as its very forgiving. Or even Better Pork Shoulder and some Chicken wings or Drumsticks.
  16. Arrived already? Nice I got an email from XDP today saying they haven't received it but they will be delivering it. Had a look at their reviews. 😟

    Meater

I got the Meater+ a couple years ago and finally just changed the battery. I do like using it especially the app as it adjusts and gives a fairly accurate finish time. I have had a couple of issues with it mainly being the bottom receiver can get dirty and is a little harder to clean due to shape. some smoke residue can remain and it can effect signal. I also use Costco tinfoil and that sometimes causes a signal block. Also I find it best to keep a spare device close to Meater+ so it has constant signal and I can make adjustments through the cloud service. Overall I do like it and would buy again. Though at the £100 i'd wait until BF/Xmas for a deal.
  18. I ordered on on Sun. I was up at 5. Refreshed page every 30 mins. It wasn't up till 8. refreshed and was sold out immediately. Refreshed a few more times and the add button appeared but was still sold out then eventually one appeared in my basket so bought it straightaway. I agree the vultures are the worst. They usually use scripts/bots to make bulk purchases.
  19. I'm going to bid on that one from Ebay @Wade unfortunately I'm 10p short. Maybe if I start a Gofundme? 😁
  20. I got two bags of Diall Lumpwood last week from my MIL she works there and got me an extra 20% of the sale price. I know what you mean I used to work there and half my colleagues where absolute rockets. I just hope I wasn't one🚀
  21. Hi and . be sure to show of your UDS it's always nice to see peoples builds. Have you managed to get many cooks in with the crappy Glasgow weather? I'm just outside Glasgow and it's a pain waiting on a dry day.
