Icefever
I received my Smartfire as per the email.....DPD were spot on with their time delivery, Now I've not had time to do any more but open the case and look inside. When I ordered it you have to choose which adapter you want for whatever smoker you have. When I `open the box there was the very new type adapter that I've seen mentioned in posts and on FB. I was a little amazed as it will look so neat fitted onto the Frontier....so I'm popping a couple of photos up for anyone interested who maybe thinking of buying one. Ice. Ice. valve90210
That's a nice looking adapter. I'd be interested to see if it makes a difference to how the SF works compared to the cake tin as I'd think the airflow might be more direct and slightly less turbulent with the flat adapter. Icefever
@sotv Is experimenting with his SF at the moment as he has the cake tin adaptor. He has a write-up on it now running to try and sort it. Ice.
Icefever
I managed to find a couple of mins to fit the plate this morning, one thing I did notice as I was fitting you need to check when you come to use the smoker that the hole on the plate lines up with one of the holes in the fire box...otherwise no air!!! If the SF unit slipped or got a knock it could turn a little and cover the hole??....will have to put the thinking cap on. Ice. Phlashster
It does look nice! 2 questions spring to mind. I wonder if it makes a difference which of the 4 holes it matches up with? Does a lower hole work differently than a higher one? And it doesn't need to move, so why have a tab at all? Phil.
Mack
Ice, you'll need to tighten the controller vent, so that it doesn't slip. Phlashster I find it works better on the lower vent holes. It has a tab for those occasions when you've not got a SF attached and still want some control either to let air in, or close it off.
Icefever
Must admit I had the thought about tightening the nut, but didn't think of the need to move but...as you say Ian you have the capability of moving the plate a little to help air flow.
