    @Toucs that chicken looks great!

Beef short ribs for my first effort, 6 hours at about 120, half the time open half wrapped in foil. Dry rub in the fridge for a while before.

I’m having a daisy wheel problem though - I can only move the whole lid on the pivot, not open the smaller holes. Anyone else having that problem / am I being dumb? The plate with the holes won’t turn independently 🤔

Yes, mine was sticking shut after cooling down post cook, both the daisy wheel and the main part. Seems to have eased off now after around a weeks worth or so of cooks.

Seems I've been lucky! I've got a few very minor pock marks but only the size of pin heads. I'm not worried about them.

Very impressed with the quality to be honest. Knowing they are half the price of the budget competition I wasn't expecting so much.

As said before by others, the deflector is too small, really not sure why, but I'm.gonna get a piece of steel cut the max size the hanger will allow. Can then use the clay deflector as a pizza stone.

Bloody heavy guys, don't build it on your own like I did!

Looking forward to my first cook 👌

13" looks like a decent size for a deflector.

  3. These are showing online as sold out now. A guy on The FB group ordered one on the 28th,  got despatch notice on the 6th and has now been told he is being refunded so assuming they have no stock left at all.

  4. First seasoning burn underway, holding a steady 230f on the lid gauge. Surprised at how quickly it got to temp from lighting it up. Using blue bag lump wood from B&Q and started with a couple of wood wool lighters.

    Hello,

I'm looking to buy one of these, but I'm in the middle of moving from a flat to a house. I'm considering getting it delivered to my parents house. How to these arrive? Would I be able to get it in the back of an estate car?

    Thanks

They come securely packaged in a cardboard crate with a pallet type base, should fit ino an estate I would imagine, heavy lift though.

@liam if it were me I'd be looking to get a replacement.

    Hi All

just bought my First Kamado and looking to get into a bit of more serious BBQ'ing, got the Aldi Kamado as it looks a great piece of kit with a lower price tag than some others, have came across this site and found lots if info which is very helpful and sure ill be needing some help in the future.

    thanks Liam

Hi from over the water  ☺

There is a thread on here dedicated to the Aldi kamado, just got one myself.

Has anyone had their 2019 Aldi Kamado's delivered yet?  XDP courier reviews are absolutely awful online.  I cant wait for it to arrive and get the first cook going!

Existing owners - I read the reviews about the heat deflecter being a bit small, I was thinking about getting a thick steel plate cut to suit but will this work with it being hung from the grate above?  Got a steel fabricator I deal with regularly through work and figured as long as it wasn't painted it would be fine.

Not yet but in the last hour or so my tracking link has updated to "Delivery" from "Create" with status data showing "At delivery depot".

  8. Reverse seared cote de bouef on Thursday.

Greek marinated chicken thighs (recipe from Food Wishes) with a sliced potato and tomato bake type thing last night.

Simple tonight, got some chilli bratwurst and a couple of Welsh steak burgers which we'll be having with a a smoked potato salad (DJ BBQ recipe).

Leg of lamb going on tomorrow.

I use Restaurant Grade Charcoal on most of my cooks.

Same here but I mainly roast or grill, if smoking then I tend to go with briquettes, haven't tried lump on a low and slow yet.

@Icefever speaking to the other half this evening she reckons I should be ok to now get charcoal delivered to her workplace, happy days.

Works out at £1.20 per kg, if you buy 2 bags with free P&P... maybe worth a punt??

    Ice.

Yeah that's what I used to do, usually delivered within 2 days. Only reason I stopped using was because I used to get it delivered to my partners workplace but they've recently moved premises and they share a building with a few other companies now. Can't really get it delivered to my work place and we're both out all day. I need to sort a new delivery place so i can get some more. I've used it for a couple of years, it's good, not spitty like the blue bag stuff tends to be.

    Came across this

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/25kg-Hardwood-Lumpwood-Charcoal-Barbecues/dp/B01M25I523

Works out at £1.11 per kg,  but as you've said about the small bits, by the time they get thrown around what will it be like when it's delivered???

After having to clean up after my delivery of heat beads, I'd like to hope that they would turn up in a better condition.

    Ice.

I sometimes get this from ebay (same vendor I think), much bigger chunks than in the smaller bags.
