  1. hmm the thin metal can't hold the heat well .. it's now been sealed and taped so no smoke is lost .. was thinking of putting clay on the inside .. but will just start saving for something proper .. it works ok did a chicken on it the other day as a test 2 1/2 hrs.. but used 1/2 a bag of lumpwood .. taste was good still moist .
  2. hi all flea here (dave really) from blackpool .. like the flavour of a bbq .. have a cheap box atm .. but have a cheap off set coming... yeah don't like to spend money till i know what i'm doing .. will be moving in a few weeks .. and have a 10x8 concrete base so there will be a bbq built there ..
  3. would 300 deg c be enough ? for the silicone ... can you suggest a sealant ? got some flat stove rope coming ..
  4. i've just got an aldi smoker £59 .. yet i know from the price i will have to get sealing tape .. £10 you get what you pay for .. now if you paid over £100 id be sending it back to be fair you do in the uk have to do a lot of research for a good smoker or build your own ... even in the states for something topish of the line it will be £4-500 or more .. but thats what you need for a good bbq most or the you tubers i look at have 8 or 12 bbq's they use .. hell of a price to pay .. so we in the uk do what we need to improvise
  5. i only use ceramic whetstones.. picked 2 up bout 20 yrs ago .. still in use .. once or twice a yr then after that a diamond steel when needed
  6. so have one of these on order (https://www.aldi.co.uk/gardenline-charcoal-bbq-smoker/p/011056254784500) .yes it will prob need a seal but for £59 i thought it was worth a go .. now atm i have a box bbq with adjustable heat shelf so wanted a cheap upgrade to try and smoke properly before spending a few hundred on something nice or doing a built in any thoughts ?
