  1. I can be there in about an hour and a half on a Sunday! I'll even bring my own plate and cutlery and half an hour or so from your local there is a fabulous pub that does some of the best pies I've ever tasted, or was that because I was very very drunk? No my good lady says I was sober as I was driving that day.. Enjoy you're new motorhome..
  2. I had no option but to BBQ one Christmas Day, a few years ago now. The memsahib was incapacitated in bed and I'd had the bright idea of having a very large goose for Christmas lunch, I placed it in the large oven and informed her I was off to walk the hound and that the goose would be ready in such and such and she need do nothing as it was all in hand by yours truly! I took off with the hound and tramped around the countryside in the snow only stopping off for a quick snifter at the local, it would have been rude to refuse! Arriving home in plenty of time I was greeted with the smell of burning? The thermostat on the oven had gone haywire and after cremating the goose had blown the main 30amp fuse for good measure! I did not have a spare fuse and when I attempted to salvage something from the goose it crumbled to blackened dust!? I was left with just a rib of beef sitting in the fridge and so cooked our entire Christmas dinner on a very small gas BBQ and when I say entire I do mean exactly that, everything including a Yorkshire pud, whilst standing in two feet of snow with the memsahib laughing at me! It was, the best Christmas dinner we have ever had though we have never had goose again. Lesson learned.
  3. You used to be able to get them at Sainsbury's only a few months ago because I saw them! Wouldn't buy them but did see them. £4 for 10 in a box. In fact you can get them on line from that supermarket so your friend will never have to wait for you to get them ever again.
  4. Twinkie Bars! An evil abomination. I was convinced that the only two things that would survive a nuclear war would be cockroaches and Twinkie bars.?
  5. We were told to add butter, so I added a pound! All that did was help it slide down easier, never came close to improving the texture or taste. As soon as I was able I moved location to a state that ate them way less. It was the only sane thing to do.
  6. Ah, you must have had some of the good stuff.?
  7. Its been a long time since I've lived in the States, 1994, miss a number of things, all food related, they are proper Mexican, real BBQ and proper Pizza? Oh and good fried chicken, clam chowder, and the prices, but then I'm way way out of date on those. But I don't miss the beer, if you can call it beer but I hear tell the micro brewers are on the rise and that has improved things, a lot. I don't miss grits! I'll never miss them as long as I live. ☺️
  8. Just watching a show on the Food Network 'Man Fire Food' and the host is down in Texas at a side of the road place where they smoke 4 ton of brisket, wait for this, a week! They have the biggest smokers I've ever seen. Meat heaven man, meat heaven.?
  9. Heat Beads were a big success in the offset, cooked some large slabs of pork belly this week using the Minion method, got around 6 and a bit hours out of just over half the amount of coals I would have used, so thanks again to Wade for the help and information. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank my butcher, my wife, my dog and my Oklahoma Joe Highland for performing well in difficult conditions.?
  10. I'd not be able to drive home after that particular festival I'm afraid..
  11. George Orwell would have had a fit if he was had still been around today?
  12. Wouldn't that mean that an entire forest would have to be excluded from any possible contamination! Don't trees do that by the very nature of the way they filter the elements, other than sunlight? Its beyond me I'm afraid! I struggle to see why it would be a selling point for something one burns! Anyway I declined the offer..
  13. Wasn't me, well I don't think so?
  14. Oh my word, chish and fips in Whitby after a long day at Olivers Mount for some road racing! Heaven
  15. I've just had an email, from a recognised supplier, asking me if I would be interested in buying, wait for it, Organic Wood Smoking Chunks Correct me but its not the 1st of April is it! ?
  16. Yep, that's the one. Its as sharp out of the box as any I've bought or used before and not even a quarter of the price of one of the mediocre makes! Nicely balanced in the hand and just flexible enough to make thin slicing pleasurable? Hold on! I'm not trying to sell this for them! I seem to have gone into Amazon review mode? Sorry people. Oh and it comes with a 10 year guarantee! No brainer or what?
