Martyn Catanach
I found on my last couple of smokes that both the sun and the rain effected the temp of the smoker so I was wondering if I had a century type of small shed to sit my WSM would this make any difference and protect the smoker from the elements and would I benifit from doing this ? Smokin Monkey
The elements will definitely effect your smoker, wind and rain especially. Just be careful of the fire risk with the wood surrounding. I know Wade has used something as simple as a cardboard box as a shield from the wind.
valve90210
I noticed this over the weekend, my temps were nice and steady then the sun came out and they increased by a good 10C or more and it wasn't even a particularly hot day!

Wade
A sentry shed would be fine but is probably a little overkill. You would need to line the floor with fireproof material and make a flue in the roof to let the smoke out. Another advantage would be that it could double up as a cold smoker too... A less permanent (and probably cheaper) solution would be to to use some sheets of plywood hinged together that you can stand around the smoker to act as a wind break. You then just need to stand the smoker in the shade so that it does not get direct sun.
