  1. Only reason I ask about the firebox is the all in ones are prone to cracking due to thermal expansion, split ones eliminate (almost eliminate?) the risk of cracking....however it would probably be covered under warranty since most (maybe all?) brands do. Not a deal breaker by any means but it takes the worry away. Alternatively there is also quinta kamado's https://www.quintakamado.co.uk/store/Quinta-Kamado-23-2-Large-Bundle-p78882562 I heard about these a while back and they look decent....but since im not allowed another kamado 🤔, I did zero research on them so I know next to nothing about them
  2. Does look like a good option, you say its more than you wanted to spend but I would consider how much it would cost to get another likewise kamado and then kit it out to the same accessories....seems like a really competitive price to me 👍 Based on my experience they are ticking alot of boxes to make it a real contender, taking the best innovations from the market innovators. I really like the glazed deflector plates. I got drip trays included with my kamado and they are a godsend at keeping them clean, couldnt imagine grilling without them but the glazed deflector plates look like a great alternative😁 Only question I have is: does it have a split firebox or all in one firebox? It would be the beast variant for me😉👍
  3. A good option could be the kamado joe classic series 1 (if they are still available), throughout last year they got some great discounts that im sure @pittmab remembers😉 Im pretty sure (have to double check) they come with the split firebox design aswell rather than the old all-in-one design thats prone to cracking. Edit: According to one website, the classic 1 includes the divide and conquer cooking grid rather than the old full circle style. Getting some accessories imported is a good idea. Keep us posted on how you get on and good luck on your search🍻👍
  4. I agree with the others, I think its a high risk/reward idea and would not personally take the risk. I would be more willing to risk it if they had no risk of cracking in transit. I managed to get my Monolith kamado in 2019 and its still in great condition.... it did take 5 years to finally get one though haha. Well worth it though when you consider how long they can potentially last (regardless of brand). Welcome to the forum by the way👍
  5. That looks fantastic, especially when you used what you had already👍😁
  6. Great effort @hoogl for all those cooks😁👍 Each individual cook looks delicious🤤
  7. I did the Christmas turkey on the rotisserie today...didnt get many pics though
  8. Looks great Smokin Monkey👍🍻 I bet that tasted delicious with the wood fire😋
  9. Welcome to the forum Rafal, there is lots of great info on this site👍🍻
  10. Thanks @Smokin Monkey👍 November has been relentless with the rain here so Im lucky I got that cook done. Hopefully we can get more entries next month🔥
  11. Thanks Timiuk!😁 It came out with a really good taste. Some improvements can be made for next time, it was a good learning experience.🍻
  12. My entry is a Smoked cheesecake with a treacle sauce. Been wanting to try this again and thought this is a good time. I hot smoked the cheesecake with some applewood. Looks great in this pic... Not so much in this one haha Tastes great though😋 More pics and info here...
  13. Earlier in the week I decided to have another attempt at a smoked cheesecake. The first attempt had a delicious flavour although not quite the right texture. I also made a sauce to go with it this time. Ingredients for the treacle sauce, ingredients for the base and ingredients for the filling. Base ingredients mixed together kamado preheated to 200C and the base baked for 10 mins. The filling ingredients are mixed together cheesecake baked for about 40 mins at 170C, smoked with applewood and looks great... and then collapsed down🤔. Next time I might leave the cheesecake in the kamado while it cools down and hopefully it wont collapse as much (either that or bake at a lower temp) Looks like a yorkshire pudding haha Sauce ingredients added and blended together The best bit The first time I tried this out of curiosity and I was pleasantly surprised with how good the smoke and sweetness went together. Turned out great tasting just like the 1st time. Texture was much better this time though👍
  14. I like the logo @Smokin Monkey Having a good think about what to do with this one😋
  15. Great job Pittmab👍 They look delicious😋 Is 15 minutes the total baking time?
  16. How is the smokehouse vent? I have the old school style daisy wheel vent and while it works fine, I think the smokehouse style ones look much better
  17. If its forecast rain I usually get it ready to light in advance (literally just need to light the fire lighter). Then I will be prepared to light it abit earlier than desired, and light it early if there is a break in the rain. Failing that, you could use a peice of wood to stop the lid from fully closing so the dome acts as shelter for the coal. I usually just shut the lid once lit though but thats just personal preference.👍
  18. Looking great blademansw!👍 Very inspiring to see it go together and hopefully in the future I can do something similar. For the moment im just measuring out to clad my kamado countertop which will hopefully be finished by summer next year. Thanks for keeping us updated😁👍

    Hi all

I used to have a cheap offset, that's what I started out on until I got the kamado. Offset was knackered though so I had to scrap it😒
