  1. I enjoyed the weather yesterday by sitting in my garden with a book while the little one marked everything with chalk.
Managed to get the bbq out to make meatballs and pasta, will take some pics next time as it came out really well.

Scary mate...glad you came through it ok...how's the wife and family? we're keeping away from everyone, we have a wonderful friend who works with the NHS and she popped over yesterday with flour, baked beans, a bottle of wine & 4 cans of Guinness bless her. When this is all over she is getting whatever is her favourite meal just to spoil her.

    Ice.

Fantastic Ice. I hope everyone on here will have more respect for our NHS staff who have been fantastic throughout.

  4. I think the herd immunity is the best plan for the next 12 months as there probably won’t be a vaccine for the next year. The reason they have isolated everyone is so the NHS doesn’t get overwhelmed.
It seems that there are huge amount of people are barely getting any symptoms while for other people it really hits them hard/kills them.
Good luck to everyone out there. It will get easier in the next couple of months, but as they said it’s going to be at least 6 months before things return to normal.

  5. I’m a no for this guys even if it goes ahead. Being self employed, and no care package given to me by the government, I’m on 0 a day for the foreseeable future. There’s a lot of other people out there in the same if not worse position.

But here’s hoping this will only last until the end of April so we get some sort of summer.

  6. To jump on a bit of a rant (I know it’s not Tuesday) but I’m getting sick and tired of listening to people screaming that we should be on lockdown. I’m self employed and if they shut everything down I’ll have no work and it will cause a serious problem for me and my family.
I was working at a school yesterday and the teachers were all complaining that they might get it if they stay open. They were all young healthy people so there would be no real harm. One of them was complaining that she wanted to visit her grandmother at the weekend and said she still was and it would be the school’s and government’s fault if she gave it to her grandmother for not shutting the school. They were all moaning they couldn’t have the school closed so they could be paid for working from home, not thinking about the ramifications for the parents that would have to find care for their children. Selfish people!

This is going from bad to worse.....I can't see any of the bbq events based over the next 4/5 months being held??? We have Brew-n-Q,  fire chef in May, and what going to happen with our own events?? it's just so sad.  I know we have to be careful, but the info coming from the Gov is so piecemeal, no one seems to know what's gong on!!!

    Ice.

I think the government has handled this pretty well (without making this too political). I know it’s frustrating that there isn’t much to go on, but the fact is if everyone just stayed hygienic it wouldn’t be too big a problem. Everyone that is demanding we all isolate for 2+ weeks is silly. There are more deaths from simple flu a year in the UK. I think the idea of not panicking is a good one.

At a guess I think a lot of events in April will probably be cancelled as that’s roughly when they are guessing the UK will hit its peak. As self employed if they shut everything up then it will cause a huge problem for me financially.

Ive also just come back from Butlins with the kid and it has been fine. They’ve kept the rides clean and plenty of places to clean hands, which is what I think we need.

  8. I was wondering why everyone was buying toilet roll 🤔🤔🤔. It makes sense now. It’s going to be used to light the charcoal.

I think we need to let people know there are better firelighters, that way I won’t have to use newspaper to wipe my arse by the end of the week.

  9. I remember speaking to a chef who was telling me that meat loses 70% of its flavour. I generally don’t worry about the loss of flavour as it still tastes great. He did say a good way to freeze the meat is to wrap in freezer paper then foil then in a zip lock bag. Hope that is helpful.

  10. Well said SOTV. I find it funny that people are Weber Haters. If I get a product from a company that wasn’t good I’ll send a complaint to the company, see how they act. If they are rude and unhelpful I never use them again, but I don’t spend my time complaining about them.

  11. I use a pizza stone and have heard about them cracking. I heard a couple of reasons this can happen.

The pizza stone will crack if wet, it takes a good bit of time to dry properly, 12 hours is what I give it.
If heated up too quickly. I put the stone on while the lid is open for a couple of minutes letting the stone slowly warm up before closing the lid.
    I hope this helps.

I still do when getting ready & while cooking....but being nervous maybe keeps us on our toes??

    Ice.

That’s so true. The amount of times I walk out to the cook and check the temperature even though it’s on my phone. When I first started longer cooks I had to stop myself from opening to check.
