  1. I use something very similar to that and it works fine. The only thing I do to it is to sit it on an oven cloth and wrap it with another couple of oven clothes to give it a nice bit of insulation which helps the temp come up a bit quicker and helps it stay nice and stable without the wand (I have the cheap Aldi one) having to do very much once the water is up to temp.

Old post I know but interesting what with all that's going on in the sous vide section at the moment.  Did you order one  Scott?? if so what's yours and Steve J thoughts??

    Ice.

I did indeed, I've used it a few times, including doing a couple of joints of beef which I've done to alabout medium rare then seared in a pan. I did one lot for a buffet for my mum's birthday back in march and I had a lot of comments about the beef being amazing ?

Aldi have one in that price range

This wine cooler from Currys could also fit the bill - it will cool down to 8 C and it will be at least the depth of a wine bottle right to the bottom

If you are looking for clear internal space you will probably need a "cooler" rather than a mini fridge as the fridges tent to have the compressor at the bottom which takes a big chunk out of the fridge space making it quite narrow.

Loving that Aldi one, if i had room for it anywhere I'd have one purely to keep smoked cheese and meat ready for smoking in. :)

  4. If my local supermarket has any ribs this evening (unlikely sadly) I might give this a try this weekend as I'm a bit too busy to be tending my smokers but fancy some nice meat :)

  5. I was playing a game called Halflife and wanted to sign up for a forum about it, I needed a username and as part of the sign up I needed a zipcode. I just took the name of the software company that made the game, and the only zip code I knew at the time (from the rubbish tv show) and Valve90210 was born! lol

  6. Just to point out, you can actually get 6 probe thermometers marginally cheaper than that on amazon:

    Here

    Here 2

    Here 3

    Here 4

They are all seemingly the same hardware essentially just in different bodies and from what I can see it looks like they all use the same basic software just rebranded. I have a SMart BBQ 6 probe  and an Inkbird 2 probe and the software is identical besides the name. I use the 6 probe one more than any of my others, it's reliable and just works.

    Very true Wade ?

I do use Weber briquettes a lot because a garden centre near me insists on sending me a £5 off voucher every week, be stupid not to ?

My favourite is the heat beads though, they seem to burn better with an even consistency.

Must say I prefer the heat beads to the Weber briquettes

How much are the pods Scott for next year

£90 for the two nights, well worth it for me, warm, dry and no flapping! :)

Yes they are more expensive, no £5.00 per night discount. They wanted us to book 20 pitches, and if not booked by the end of the year Wade and myself would have to pay for the remaining unbooked.

Totally makes sense, as others have said, you don't want to be lumbered with having to pay out for unbooked pitches. I'm not fussed about the cost, it's such a good weekend, and very godo for my mental health so it's worth every penny!! :)

  9. Just a quick heads up, my local Aldi currently have starter chimneys for £4.99. They're a good size (about the same as the big webber ones) and have the useful additional swing down handle to help with pouring the coals out, which is often lacking on cheaper chimneys.
