AdamG
The only thing I dislike about pizza on the kamado is losing lots of heat when opening the lid so I always wanted the Kamado DoeJoe to eliminate this. However I couldn't justify the price of it when its not much more to get a dedicated pizza oven. I was hoping Monolith or another brand would do a more affordable option but never found any. I also did not like the Doejoe being powder coated...surely its just a matter of time before the paint starts to flake off. Anyway I decided to make my own (using the Monolith rotisserie as inspiration) and see how it goes. First I made this to lift the deflector plates up. Then a similar one for the pizza stone that sits it higher. Then finally the "wedge" to keep the lid up. I made the pizza stone sit slightly higher than the wedge so I can hopefully get pizza's off. It aint quite finished yet but its looking ok so far. My biggest concern is if it warps all over when it gets alot of heat... fingers crossed it stays nice and flat๐ค If it works fine then I will polish up the welds to make it look a little more appealing lol
U can do that again
To para phrase the late great Ian Dury, there ain't half been some clever barstools.....looks good, surely the weight of the lid will act as compression fitting on the wedge or is it the flat element of the wedge you are worried about? Mainly the part that goes upto the pizza stone as it will have some direct heat hitting it. However its the bottom deflector plate shelf that im most concerned about since its going to get the hottest, stainless steel is known for warping. I used to have some stainless steel charcoal baskets for my old bbq and they only warped very slightly, even though they were in direct contact with briquettes. Hopefully be good๐

AdamG
The front part of the "wedge" bit has warped upwards however its only a little bit and still can be used, I dont think (๐ค) it will get worse with repeated use. this was the last (4th) pizza and it turned out great...except the shaping skills haha Tomorrow I will see what the supports are like.... <Added text> Kamado cooled down enough for me to have a look and its just the front part that warped so Im happy with that result. If it does not warp on future cooks then winner๐๐ป Edited May 19 by AdamG Added text
