The charcoal started fine, it was trying to run it low at 120-140, I think I was expecting a quicker change so may have been closing too much and killing the fire. Inkbird thermostat did help to monitor it though. I got the blue bag restaurant grade stuff

So my AK kamado eventually turned up last Friday after ordering at 3am on April 26th. XDP are the worst, no communication at all. It has a small chip, nothing to do with the transportation, will have to see what aldi say. I tried some brisket at the weekend but it was a bit tough and dry, I had major issues trying to keep a steady low temp, it kept on dying and I had to relight a few times, temp shot up then back down. What am I doing wrong?

Anyone still waiting for their kamado? Mine has been with xdp since last week at the collection depot. Their phone number is now closed due to unforeseen circumstances!

Same here, the reviews and posts from the previous years helped. All I can smell wfh is other people bbqs! Hopefully wfh helps as I can check on the low and slow cooking.

Kentish Man l I hope you took the plunge as they are sold out! I was waiting to check if these were online after midnight and fell asleep. Luckily woke up at 3am and thought to check, over 70 sold and aparently over 100 people looking at the item at that time. Bought one, I've only used gas before for bbq and a cheap tiny charcoal so will see how i take to the low and slow. Is the Aldi lumpwood any good? It looks like they come in 1kg bags so assuming its tiny bits.
