  1. There’s a thought, could I use a pizza stone in it too? (Thinking cover all bases while camping)
  2. See I don’t like grilling on kettles much. I like adjustable levels for grilling as quick to adjust temp for different meats. Especially useful when I’m catering for 20-40 on one barbe! But I have my drum for that and an old drum we’ve been using as a fire pit.
  3. Good for you ? I could not! Recently had 18 of our trees taken down in the garden. I kept all the trunks for some bizarre reason. Shame they’re not suitable for smoking!
  4. Yep! Just put up a post in the charcoal smoker forum!
  5. Ok so I have no problem with drum smokers which I’ve always used or kettle style (which I no longer have). I really want to start trying meat joints though. So bullet style? But I’m seeing prices ranging from 40 to 1000. Could probably look to spend up to £100 if it means we’re getting a much better piece of kit than £40. Looking at the Callow that Wade reviewed but wondering if it’ll be too small? I guess two layers would mean I can put two joints in at once. The other thing is, we’ve spent pretty much the whole of summer holidays camping. Got a little £10 smoker which actually does ok but ended up mostly hob cooking as I can’t fit a bigger barbe in the car and the mini one just didn’t take enough. So I guess I need something small that I can easily transport but also that’s big enough to actually cook reasonable amounts or joints. Then.. with a bullet style, can I still ramp up the heat if I fancy making up some Patties and kebabs? Last question, i assume I can leave it going while it’s pelting down but just take more care with temp control? Sorry, newbie and not a damn clue ?
  6. Thanks! Just having a good read to try and decide where to start. I generally find temperature control isn’t an issue when I barbe so I’m hoping this gives me a head start on knowing what to do with a smoker. then again, also fancying the idea of cold smoking!
  7. He loves a good chicken wing! im currently scanning the forum trying to work out what to ask where ?
  8. Isaac loved it! Especially the salmon and the rice pudding!
  9. Hello! Sarah here (along with Bryon the hubby, Adelyn and Isaac) massive bbq fans, often look at smoker barrels but haven’t yet subcum. Love making burgers, sausage patties, kebabs, marinades for meats. Never smoked but love the idea of smoking our own salmon. Accidently fell upon you guys while camping this weekend and mind is blown! Would LOVE to get involved it the next get together. Meanwhile, I’ll be after some inspiration as my meat joints are generally the same old thing; I’d have never thought about BBQ’ing a joint. on another note... Thank you for the invite this evening and being so welcoming of us all. Pretty big hit with the kiddies! (Possibly due to toffee sauce and rice pudding?) but my 4 year old enjoyed munching ribs and chicken wings aswell. Whoever made the lamb/pomegranate dish.. byron loves it and a reciepe would be grand! Apologies that our only contribution was a few beers! Wish I’d know before hand and I could have knocked a few bits up! look forwards to getting involved in your next ‘meat up’ (no one has used that pun before right?)
