The thickness of the steel will not be a big issue.

If you look at a UDS they are just an old Oil Drum, so the steel thickness is around 2mm and they work brilliantly.

strange the thicker steel gives a better temp holding range and even cook  .. or that's what i have been led to believe ?

since in the uk we are not normally blessed with such good weather

  3. no pic's ...

did a spatchcock chicken tonight .. with the inkbird therm 2 probes in the offset ..

got to say the one on the lid is 50deg shy ..lol

so with some playing got it up to 140c and it stayed there till 74 deg c

will do it without water next time as it took a while nearly 2 hrs

or have a bigger fire going ..

I just bought the same one, any tips for using it?

it's the same one i got from aldi ..

it's going to need sealing  Hight temp silicone around all the joints  then where the grates go out the back i cut them off dremel :)

and put 4 bolts thru and sealed the holes ...then round the firebox and cooking area Self Stick Adhesive Gasket

    but yeah works ok.

some pic's in this post https://www.woodsmokeforum.uk/topic/2894-rolled-brisket/
