  1. Great - thank you. I’ve got a thermapro two probe thermometer - I’ll use one probe to measure temp at the grill and the other to measure temp of the meat. Can’t wait to give a pork shoulder a go.
  2. Nice one, thanks AmateurPitBoss. Got any tips for learning how to get the best from it when new to cooking on a kamado? Any good forgiving recipes for a first cook or two?
  3. Anyone who already has one got any recommendations for “must have” accessories? For example, is the heat deflector good enough, or is there a better one available elsewhere? Is there a particular pizza stone that is good for this grill? Are there cast iron grates available that fit it? Or anything else that has improved the grill!
  4. I did press the button and buy one. Ive got a Weber spirit gas bbq at the moment, and as great as it is at what it does, I’m looking forward to adding a kamado to complete (for now) my fleet. A summer of lockdown and working from home seems the perfect time to try some different things 👍
  5. Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and in the market for a Kamado. The Aldi option is coming round again, (on sale this Sunday). The price is clearly very attractive, but I’ve got a couple of concerns: 1. Quality control based on this thread! 2. Availability of accessories that fit the grill (as a starting point I’d want a pizza stone and a griddle - I guess those should be easy to get hold of?), might be harder to get cast iron grates, but I think I could live without that Given the price difference between this and the next option up, which I’d see as being a Masterbuilt (i.e. a Joe Classic) at £650, the Aldi option is a compelling offer if i can get one that isn’t damaged! My only other concern is whether I’ll actually be able to build it given the weight of the thing. It’ll arrive on a pallet on my drive, and I’ll need to get it to my back garden, but there’s a 8inch step or so along the way. Am I over thinking the weight involved? Cheers, Simon
