  1. Ok.

So I was lucky enough to spend time with the smokefire yesterday and a number of Weber chefs.

I asked a lot of questions and the differences we should see in the UK are:

weber and going to increase the ramp angle on the hopper for the larger version to eliminate the feeding issue

the UK version comes with the GBS as standard.

I didn’t see any issue with the flame shooting out more to one side or the other.

we had some amazing brisket and steaks, wings and ribs.

I reversed my decision and went ahead and reordered.

  2. I went for the EX6. I have cancelled but am going to reorder once I’m happy with the reviews. As it happens the reviews are starting to get more positive, and Harry Soo did a big cook and loved it on the whole.

I think I’ll end up rigging up a steeper ramp insert for the hopper

I'll find out when delivered, not so convinced they have redesigned the pellet grill (on the lo&slo side) as more caused a few headaches, but we will see.

With regards to the drip trays, not a problem as such as used to using them on my bullet smoker. But the thought of cooking 2 or 3 items  lo & slo and having 2 or 3 drip trays underneath  on the bars isn't ideal, especially as the flavorizer bars are meant to be what gives the even heat distribution over the whole unit and a couple of flat bottomed foil trays with liquid in  aren't going to help with that maybe?. Proof is in the pudding though and I will have to wait for March to find out.

Yes, I was hoping to be able to put on a brisket and a few shoulders and then ribs on the top.

if the intent was to use drip trays it should have come with a big one that you remove for grilling.  I’m sure they wanted people to not have to use them

  4. I thought the idea of the machine was that you didn’t need to use a pan if you didn’t mind the clean up?

im still not overly impressed with the ash flying everywhere (that was supposed to be addressed), stuck pellets and the flame shooting more to the right for uneven cooking.

I still have mine on order as I’ll keep watching the vids and wait to hear if Weber come out with a statement.

I agree some just love to bash Weber, but there are some Weber fans who appear to be genuinely upset at the let down.

I expect orders in the UK will start being filled mid March

  5. Ok so I have watched most if not all the you tube videos since it came out. And I have to say, very concerned. To the point I might ask if I can delay delivery if they will do that, in order for me to see more reviews.

it looks like a badly designed piece of kit and even worse, highly prone to grease fires. So you can’t leave it overnight or unattended

    what is everyone else’s thoughts?

Always a good idea to call WOWBBQ when you see deals like this, they will price match (or beat).

I did look and they only price match (according to the website) on in stock items. This is a pre order so figured they wouldn’t bother

  7. So I just bought a thermoworks smoke.

first use was great, but the second time the food probe was reading 20f higher than the pit probe and then during the cook was a bit erratic.

is this a broken probe or did it maybe get too wet and I need to somehow bake it in the oven?

it already went through a 9hr short rib cook and still reads 20f high.

I did buy a spare and it is definitely the prob that is broken and not the base unit.

    thanks

Thanks mate, they were good! The vents were all but closed - one open about 2-3mm. I guess the I’ll-fitting door acts as the main vent. I think I will upgrade the door or at least get some gasket tape.

Taped mine. door and lid, makes a big difference. Did the kettle as well :)

If you come across any good deals for pellets, post them on here, as I will be on the lookout for some as well, but prefer the fruit woods like cherry and apple personally.

The only real finnicky thing I have read about it, is the positioning of the wire for the meat probe(s) from initial reviews are you going to invest in anymore or stick with the 1 provided, can't find any prices for the extra ones yet over here. may get a meater+ as well if probes turn out expensive

Amazingribs are hoping to get a production model this month and do a full review, be interested to see what they say compared to the controlled display they were given at Weber HQ

Can’t wait to see their review.

I might get an extra probe. I have an igrill and thermoworks smoke anyway so might not be worth it.

really interested to see the recipient etc.. with the new interface

Are you going to stick with the Weber pellets for it or use other brands.

Seen some GMG Pellets 25kg/56lb  for £37.80 delivered, various varieties, which seem reasonable value compared to some.others I have looked at

I read it was designed to work with all pellets. So I guess I’ll look at reviews. Probably go for the best value single wood ones (hickory, pecan etc...) and then reviews for blends to start with.

Glad I saw your post and decided to get it yesterday, didn't realise it was a one day offer only...👍 Only 60 days to wait, but who's counting 😀

Yep really short window to get it. I had to ring them to check it was on the smokefire  as assumed it wouldn’t stretch to an unreleased item.

    amazing deal
