I'm wondering about just drilling hole and mounting the fan adapter on the side bu opposite where the coals would be, I probably wouldn't even need the snorkel type thing I've designed as I think the fan blows hard enough to push air all the way to the coals...

That's how I set up the PartyQ, SnS & DnG, and how I intend to use for the Qmaster.  Be careful, though, to make the hole where it doesn't interfere with the vents in any way

  2. I've decided to throw caution to the winds, and I've ordered one of these.  Up to now I've used the PartyQ on one of my Weber 57s, together with the Slow 'n' Sear and Drip 'n' Griddle, and results have generally been good.  The problem I have with the PartyQ, though, is that I'm never sure of the state of the batteries - the display shows the same thing whether they are new or nearly down - and they have run out mid-cook on a couple of occasions, so I ordered the UK AC/DC adapter - I've got electric points in the BBQ shed.  I also sometimes have problems setting a max temp on the PartyQ

For the PartyQ I drilled a 7/8th" hole below the coal grill, so on the seller's advice I ordered Adapter C, with the 1" hole, so I can increase the diameter of the one already there.

Looking forward to getting it, and fingers crossed!  I haven't used my Callow for hot-smoking yet, so that'll be the next step.

  3. Like valve90210, just seen this.  Retired & living in Sandwich, with wife, 2 greyhounds and  5 bbqs - 2 x Weber 57, Thueros, Q200 and Callow smoker.  Thermoworks Smoke - waiting for customs/parcel force to release my Gateway.  BTW, Wade, Smoke probes don't fit through the eyelets on the Callow!

  4. Just cheddar tonight, done it many times on the Weber kettle, and it's a favourite with friends.  One gives us eggs in exchange, another looks after our greyhounds when needed (wife has cancer, and we spend quite a lot of time at hospitals).  Do other cheeses as well, but tonight I wanted something simple to look for smoke leaks, etc.

  5. Built this morning.  Would have been a bit easier if the instructions for attaching the clips and the grate holders in the middle body had been included!

Further question.  In the pic, is the ProQ CSG on one of the grates on top of the charcoal basket?  Bit difficult to see.

  6. Hi

Liomer alias Peter Sykes signing in.  Been basic BBQing for more years than I care to remember, but retirement and a long-suffering wife have now given me the opportunity to expand my horizons.  9 months ago the discovery of facebook and the inestimable CWS group have given me the shot in the arm I needed, and I'm always keen to learn new things.

Live in Sandwich, the a-hole of the pig that is GB on the map, and wish that there were more BBQ happenings down this way.

Best of luck to the forum!

    Cheers

    Peter
