TaffyApple Posted July 26, 2022 Share Posted July 26, 2022 Hi all, I've bought a cheap offset and seem to be getting on OK with it. I've made a firebox for it as the charcoal was just falling through the rack that came with it too readily and there was no airflow under the fire. Temps fluctuate a bit, but nothing major (225 - 275f). I'm working if my fire is running too hot though, as my chunks from ProQ were burning off and needing replacing after about 15 minutes. I tried closing the intake on the firebox but then the chunks started smouldering rather than cleanly burning andy blue smoke started going white. How long do chunks normally last? I don't think there's much I can do in terms of lowering the temp on this other than using less charcoal? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on where to but logs from?
