I had a look at mine but doesn't appear that there is a way to do this, if anyone has any suggestions for replacements that are a bit more reliable.

    Thanks Paul

i tinkered with it after the cook and took it out, held the nut with a spanner to the rear and the housing moved around allowing the needle to rest on zero. It then went back in no issues.

It’s just handy to have for a glance when cooking pizzas as I have learnt to my cost that the inkbird  probes don’t like temps of 350c!!

What are people's thoughts on accessories for the AK are in general?

I've been looking at the YNNI D&C and Kick Ash Basket basket, both of which I like the look of. I'm also consider a Steel Smokin plancha which, again, looks like a great bit of kit. But by the time I have added those items I have dramatically increased the overall cost of the AK.

I know it will depends on everyone's preferences, budgets, etc. but are there any accessories which are must haves / that you couldn't live without? Any that you think really aren't required? Or is the AK best used as it is sold and as on as much of a budget as possible?

    Thanks, James

I am still on the hunt for a basket and the ProQ updates are really interesting earlier on in this forum. I can whole heartedly recommend the Steel Smokin kits and plancha - I went for the full kit and the quality and service is excellent. Other than that a good thermometer and you are good to go and experiment. I have always had charcoal bbqs so this aspect wasn’t a huge leap for me but I found “Hot Coals” a good read when I got it as a gift (Amazon has it) as an intro to Kamados in general - also give BBQ life UK a look and follow on YouTube, and he also posts here. Enjoy.

I managed to get lucky today. Was on the site from 7. The queue it feature on the website got me on for 752. Kamado's dropped at 8 and all went out of stock.

Spent the first bit of the morning with the right face on.

Then just randomly checked back at 0911 and some dropped back into stock and I managed to bag one.

    Absolutely buzzing.

Exactly how I got mine in April - great news mate and enjoy when it comes.

My starting advice would be to try and undershoot your desired cooking temp and then slowly increase it until you reach it.

This will take longer to get to your target temp but it will help you to understand different vent settings for your specific kamado on future cooks.

It will also reduce the chance of overshooting....which can take much longer to cool down due to the efficiency of the kamado.

Eventually after a few cooks you will be able to set your vents, leave it for 60 mins and come back to a stable temp that could be well within 5C degrees of your desired temp👍😁

Thanks Adam appreciate the quick reply and advice 👍🏻

  5. Evening folks - newbie here that’s just received notification that my AK is being picked up by the couriers (no delivery date yet). Have always used charcoal bbqs but first toe dip into Kamados and as usual I am going down rabbit holes looking on YouTube and forums for my soon to be new fixation!
Loving the tips on here - I have ordered my Alderline charcoal and I’m looking at temp gauges.

One question - if you had to give me one piece of advice starting out, what would it be?
