Like the look of that yeah, where was it from @Ams1987?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253271974010. Its just rhe little rack that came with my pizza stone. Bargain price. And fits perfectly in the AK.

Probably a bone question, how did you cut that?

And yes. Just used a masonry disk on my angle grinder. Could have been a neater cut but works perfectly. And saved a lot on a divide & conquer

. Doing a 3-2-1 cook on 1/2 rack of ribs.

Having a little fiddle getting the temp steady, it's fluctuating between 110 and 120 annoyingly. Wanted 100 ish. But all good.

  2. Finally got mine, what a bit of kit so well built. Cut the heat deflector in half straight away. Got a little rack for it to sit on. Perfect for indirect cooks, cheaper than a divide and conquer

    Season and 1st cook now.

  3. Finally.... Just had a text saying coming tomorrow. Not holiding my breath. Although at least it's coming with ao/expert logistics.

Also change the front on the shack as I found a couple of nice bits of wood. And I've lowered it a bit. And made a little firelighter box

    Looks great 👍

Are you putting a roof on?

I would look for some sort of blind that rolls up and down that Lattice Work,

I have the same, and the wind and rain blows through with force, in the end I have boarded the inside for protection.

Got polycarb roofing on the way (due Thursday)

Ad for the trellis. We have a huge wisteria that grows along the fence. Goint to coax this into the trellis over next few months. Should create a nice rain barrier, will look nice in bloom too

:( still no dispatch email from aldi and I ordered at 3am after it went live!

I am in scotland though, anyone else still waiting?

Same. Absolutely nothing. Other than rather useless twitter replies.

Annoying really. I'd be happy with just some info.

Looking good - I’ve just ordered some timber for a big BBQ table, going to base it on this design with a few tweaks to maximise the space. It’s going to be mounted on big castors so I can move it around my deck 👍

I did look at doing a big table. But I like the idea of the kamado being able to move, we get sun down the other end of the garden outside the bar till about 6pm in the summer. And in the bar (with the doors open) till about 7. So fancy wheeling it down there some times.

Just done a 2nd varnish on the shack. The oak tops have come up lovely with a good sanding back.

Chuffed all the wood came off a mates fire pile. Only cost me 20 for polycarbonate roof and some screws

  9. I think it's good having a selection. I've got an oklahoma joe Highland offset, a wood pizza oven, a big open brick bbq and now ordered an AK.

Nice to have a play with different techniques and styles.

You can put a full or half moon deflector plate in a kamado allowing full indirect or half and half.

The Webber kettle I have is very old now with some bits that need replacing.

I will have to try and decide whether to replace it now and whether the price is worth while.

I do over night low cooking and smoking on the WSM with no issues, although if the temperature outside drops i do find my alarm goes off do I have to get up and open the vents, same if it rains.

Can you cook indirect on a komado? It looks like all the coals are right in the centre.

I received an email on Tuesday with a link to the tracking website, and the website was updated yesterday to show delivery today. I also got a text message yesterday late afternoon confirming delivery today. All together it has been a great delivery process and far quicker than I expected.

Good luck with your delivery (and the roof)!

Ah fab thanks. Hopefully won't have to wait toooo long. Did yours turn up undamaged. My only worry was seeing all the issues people had last year.

I ordered around 5am on Sunday, it arrived about 5pm this evening and it's now cured and ready for an initial cook tomorrow.

I was using a Weber gas grill before and I’m already really impressed by the AK - I can see an outdoor kitchen project on my horizon now 👍

Did you get a dispatch email? I ordered Tuesday late evening. Said dispatch today but not a had anything.

Hopefully the bbq shack has a roof by the time it comes  haha

Welcome Adam, I’ve just joined myself and have found some really useful info here on the site. My Kamado is currently 8 stops away from me and I can’t wait!

When did you order? Hoping mine is sent out soon.

Started building a rustic shelter for the kamado today

  13. Hi all.

    New to the forum.

From Wales, been an avid bbqer for years, spent 10 ish years as a fine dining chef then a few years working in a local smoke/bbq restaurant.

Always had charcoal barbecues, started with a cheap offset, then got an oklahoma joe Highland, also built a big brick bbq last summer & have a small pizza oven. Oh, and. A little charcoal rotisserie. Love that thing.

Just ordered an aldi kamado, always fancied one.  Looking forward to using the forum.

    Adam

  14. Just took the plunge this morning. Got a big brick b charcoal bbq and an oklahoma joe Highland offset, and a wood pizza oven but always liked the look of a kamado. And for the cost can't go wrong. A mate just bought a masterbuilt for 650 and this doesnt look to far off haha. We'll see when it arrives.
