Smokin Monkey
My phone has not stopped pinging all morning! This thread has gone mad!! Plenty of good information for New comers to Smoking.
goldencrunchs
Hahahaha I’m quite the curious mind! Although it’s been distracting me at work, all for the cause!!
goldencrunchs
Hey guys! Sheds all cleared out, smoker is inside it. Just bought the tubing for ventilation. I’ve found a supplier of kiln dried oak local. Is this suitable?
goldencrunchs
I’m guessing this won’t be enough to smoke a pheasant today?
Smokin Monkey
It would last several cooks if you used for smoke only, (with charcoal/bricketts for main heat source).

Smokin Monkey
10 minutes ago, goldencrunchs said: One or two what sorry? Do what @Wade said, with the charcoal, then place one chunk on the lit coals then two further chunks on the unlit coals. As the coals burn left to right, you will get constant smoke as each chunk smolders in turn.
goldencrunchs
I’m guessing cause I have small chips use a few more. Right let’s get cracking, gonna fit my thermometer in first
goldencrunchs
I haven’t got my stove rope yet though so may take a bit longer but I’m going to give it a whirl regardless. No charcoal lighter tube thing either
Smokin Monkey
Of course, a handful in each position. Then if the right hand ones do not burn along with the coals they can be saved and used next time.
goldencrunchs
Genius. Is this correct with the thermometer? Leave 1 hanging and put 1 in the meat
Smokin Monkey
Did you get a grill clip like this? If not get it as close the the grill you are cooking the meat on. If you have a wooden close peg put the probe through the smaller hold to keep it in position
goldencrunchs
I got the clip, blonde moment
goldencrunchs
I found this stove rope in my grandads garage he said he’s good at applying it. Question, it’s round so I’m not sure if it will approve things. See the photos (it’s not glued yet)
