TexasDave
I am a long time WSM user. I like to use a mix of mostly Australian Heat Beads plus some lump. Heat beads have been getting harder and harder to get - so I guess I need to find an alternative? Any recomendations would be welcome. I found heat beads to be expensive (I am originally from the USA) but they worked really well and were worth it. Thanks!

Chae
If you have a Range nearby I heard a rumour that sometimes the Heat Beads are available there - I can't confirm as I've not been in to our local one to check but might be worth a shot if you're near one? I bought some from BBQ World to have a go but it doesn't look like they have in stock any more. I was using Cocoshell Briquettes but was a bit disappointed with my last box, a bit smokey (but probably just a bad batch as I've been happy with them before), which is why I'm trying alternatives. I also bought the Globaltic lumpwood and briquettes but haven't had a go yet to report back I'm afraid
TexasDave
I am going to try the Green Olive Briquettes and will report back. Wonder what the issue is in getting the Heat Bids in the UK. Maybe C19 releated? No clue but sad... My technique is to use the briquettes, a bit of lump and wood chunks. I hate to have to start again but may have to switch to lump but will see how the Green Olive ones are. Thanks!!
TexasDave
I have now used both the Green Olive Briquttes and Heat Beads and still prefer the Heat Beads. Dawsoms has them back in stock. Not cheap but I really like the Heat Beads. I plan on mixing the Heat Beads and Green Olive Briquttes going forward.
smokeyjoe
like yourself, i only use heat beads, but i did try the weber briquettes last year, they are ok as a backup or if you cannot get heatbeads, but they are just not quite as good.
Icefever
I've done the whole range of bbq fuel...started off with lumpwood, then coconut blocks, heat beads, a couple of others can't remember, then back to good quality lumpwood. Ice.
