  1. Course was fun. Very glad I signed up. Well presented. Attendees are excellent too. Sat in the sunshine talking with Wade and IceFever, plus the super lovely IceIceLady. Surrounded by wood smoke and laughter. Weekends don't get much better than this!
  2. This time next week we'll be on-site. Looking forward to meeting you all.
  3. He's decided at this stage to look closer to home
  4. Is this still available? I already have mine but will check with a friend who indicated an interest
  5. Meater+ here too Charged and synched
  6. Headed to NYC this week and have held a table for lunch at Virgil's BBQ (as we've managed to squeeze it in to the itinerary before heading to the airport) Has anyone been to this place before, or do you have better recommendation that's fairly central to Times Square?
  7. The only issue is around high sugar content of rubs and in the sauces. Some of the sweeteners (eg Maple Syrup, Molasses etc) used can spike you but my advice is test As a T2 you may not get prescribed a meter (sadly you cannot get a Meater on NHS) but invest in one. Test every food you eat and see what spikes you as some foods will be okay (less than 2 points higher than pre-meal after 2 hours) and some will remain higher (avoid) As with everything - in moderation you will be okay. I ate really badly over the summer but my test still showed up as fine. Back into it now (its hard - but don't give up) 1500 cal per day is achievable Outside of BBQ, try Livlife bread (3.8g carbs per slice instead of about 20 for normal bread) or go for Hovis Lower Carb There are also loads of lowcarb wraps, rices, noodles etc - and swap out certain brands of fizzy drink for lower carb equivalent. Try cashew butter and eat cheese as a snack Hope this helps
  8. Yes, was diagnosed in 2014 but turned it around and recent tests have shown me as 'normal' (in laymans terms non-diabetic) Happy to share what worked for me - lifestyle change required and food swaps but I still ate like a king Google LCHF for starters and message me your number - happy to discuss Fats are okay, as is Protein - It's Carbs you need to cut drastically What worked for me was 55% Fats / 35% Protein / 15% Carbs. I lost 35kgs (77 lbs) in 2 years and have kept it off when I eat well. Fats are a key part to keep as your body will start to run on fats and not sugars
  9. Mine arrived and suffered the same fate
  10. Use code LOYAL15 for a 15% discount from the meater.com site Just used it and it worked a treat! Thanks to a Meater Block Kickstarter Backer for posting this code on FB
  11. It seems that disruption is on the rise. From BBQ competitions being cancelled due to activism, and now businesses directly targeted, it's only going to get worse. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-46111505 Let's hope it doesn't happen too close to home and gets nipped in the bud.
  12. How did you get on with the Meater+ Wade?
  13. Good things take time, but when you hit critical mass then it's hard to keep up I've grown a forum to over 20000 members in 10 years with 3000+ visitors per day All through word of mouth. The immediate focus should remain on building a core community. There is a lot of potential for this forum.
