  1. They have loads of them this year, I would get it replaced.
  2. Well it is £30 more now so doesn't appear to offer quite the same value.
  3. So, I smoked some beef burgers at 135c with some apple wood till they were about 65c in the middle then I seared them for a minute or so each side. They turned out great but I couldn't really notice the smokiness but my wife and son said they were really smokey and delicious. I think I had gone nose smoke blind. Any way to stop this? As the person cooking the food I should get to enjoy it as much as everyone else at least.
  4. Yea, I can see how that would work but I think I will just cut the original as the Asda Pizza stone does fit the original grill frame so no matter which I want to us I have a deflector that will work.
  5. I've bought the Pizza Stone from Asda but it is too big "33cm" for the D&C so I will use it for a Pizza stone and cut the original deflector.
  6. Did you find the grill on the Appliances Direct is a little too big for the lower level?
  7. @GigasonixThat's a good idea, I will do that instead.
  8. So I decided as I started down the skinflint road with the AK I would continue down the same path with accessories. I purchased the AppliancesDirect Divide and Conquer style grill which sells for £39.97 but does not come with the deflector plates. I plan on cutting the deflector plate that came with the AK in half. They had a Grade A option which was £5 less so I got that as I don't care if there are scratches on the grill, its going to be worse than scratches after the first cook on it. Anyway, I thought I would let anyone who is considering buying this that it is smaller than the advertised 41.5 cmx 41.5 cm. The grill itself is 39cm in diameter and the widest part of the unit is 40.3cm. This is about 1.5cm smaller than the grill that comes with the AK. I am happy enough with this but there is a lot of wasted space that could be used if you buy one of the Ynni or equivalents.
  9. First cook tonight, Scalloped Potatoes and Pork Chops. Cooked the scalloped potatoes at 200c for 20 minutes uncovered then 30 minutes covered then final 10 minutes uncovered, could have used a few more minutes uncovered at the end but we were hungry so the Pork chops went on. I just used some Everglades Seasoning which I got while in Florida a couple years ago on the Pork chops. The pork chops were too thin to reverse sear so just cooked them hot on the grill. It was all delicious and it got the fear of the first cook out of the way.
  10. Better control, rainproof.
  11. I dont know if this is helpful or not but I have taken a bunch of measurements of my Kamado. Grills Main Grill Diameter 412mm Small Grill 333mm Diameter x 280mm on flat side Kamado (Mine is not perfectly round so these are the smallest measurements) Kamado inner Diameter 448mm Firebowl inner diameter 350mm Firebowl outer diameter 415mm Ash Hole (is that the right term?😏) diameter 215mm
  12. So Mine turned up today. No real issues, a few little pock marks in the glaze but no chips and no cracks that I can tell. Mine doesn't appear to have this part and I have no idea where it would go if it did. Was that part of the first batch but not the current ones? In any case I have to say overall I am really impressed with the quality for the price. I mean I have nothing to compare it to but all of the bolts and nuts appear to be stainless steel and the powder coating seems decent too. Anyone who says these are crap is talking out their Ash Tray. They may not be a KamadoJoe but I think they are probably 90% there for 25% the price. Good value, that's my wheelhouse.
  13. Have you got the Appliance Direct D&C? how well does it fit? What do you use for the deflector?
  14. Ordered mine on Wednesday and it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I intend on getting one of the divide and conquor systems but not sure which one to go for. I was thinking of getting the Appliances direct one and getting a split steel deflector laser cut, still cheaper than the YNNI or the Kamado Kings one but it is also a little smaller and I am not sure if it might be worth the extra for the larger grill diameter or if it will make no difference.
  15. That's good of them as it might have been a pain to get rid of though it might have been good to have as spare parts. Hope your first cook went well. I order one on Wednesday and it is being delivered tomorrow. Can't wait to have a go myself.
  16. Did they collect the Broken one or leave it with you?
